Ding Dong- The 5ths Win (Match Report) - 2007/03/05 03:10 Was going to put this in the Match Report section but it wouldn't let me, so I'm putting it on here instead.

On Saturday 3rd March the 5th team recorded their 2nd win of the season, beating Sandal 4-2. The game was played on astroturf so no-one really knew what to expect.
City started well dominating the first 30 mins creating 3 or 4 clear cut chances which they could not convert into a goal. Then totally against the run of play, a hopeful freekick was lumped in to the area and latched upon by the Sandal left winger, who managed to poke it through Chapmans legs. 1-0 Sandal. In other matches heads would have gone down but city kept on pressing and bagged a deserved equaliser. The ball was delivered in to the box by Tommo which the keeper failed to deal with and Mickey Lennard picked up the pieces and finished well. City went into the break positive and determined they could get a result.
City began the 2nd half well, again creating numerous chances but unable to apply the finishing touch. But in the 60th minute this all changed and Mickey Lennard bagged his 2nd of the game firing in to the corner of the net from 20 yards.
In previous games going ahead has spelt disaster for city as they have a tendency of paniking and conceding goals. Saturday was no exception. City began to drop deep and invited Sandal on to them. Eventually a ball over the top of the defence found one of their fowards who finished well beyond an advancing Chapman.
At this point two 2nd half substitutions were made. Chris Sharman replaced an impressive Tolly and Billy replaced hard working Wayne.
At first these substitutions did nothing to stop the panic- Sandal piled on the pressure. One ball in to the box saw it come spinning of a City boot and onto the cross bar, another saw a 5 yard shot hit Chapman and go spinning around the post.
However this was the wake up call that City needed. They began to dominate the game again, with determined work from, Simon and Jez in the midfield and Billy up front. Eventually 5 minutes before full time Simon's determined work was rewarded with a goal, calmly slotting it past the advancing keeper. He was understadibly mugged by the whole team as City's 2nd win of the season was now in sight. A few more nervous minutes followed before Mickey Lennard put the game beyond any doubt by bagging his hat-trick.
City were over the moon with the victory and hope to take their hard working performance on to the next game.
The whole team was
